National Campaign For Fair Elections
HELP US PROTECT THE MOST FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT-
THE RIGHT TO VOTE.
The National Campaign for Fair Elections seeks legal volunteers for Election Protection to help ensure millions of Americans are able to vote.
What is the National Campaign for Fair Elections?
The National Campaign for Fair Elections (NCFFE) - an initiative of the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law - is leading the effort to develop a sustainable voter protection and election reform movement. The campaign coordinates a comprehensive strategy of working in Washington, the states, and the courts, to protect voters' rights.
What does NCFFE do?
NCFFE and the Lawyers' Committee are the lead legal organizations for Election Protection - the nation's largest non-partisan voter protection coalition. Through its role administering, staffing and organizing Election Protection's Hotline (1-866-OUR- VOTE), NCFFE simultaneously helps tens of thousands of voters overcome obstacles to the ballot box while collecting data that makes the case for meaningful reform at the local and national level. Election Protection guides voters through the voting process, from registration through Election Day and beyond. Through the Lawyers' Committee, NCFFE leverages the nation's largest pro bono legal network, which provides full-service support to voters and grassroots civic engagement groups preparing for voter registration and mobilization across the country.
How you can help: NCFFE is currently recruiting attorneys, paralegals, and law students to:
* Get involved early to organize Election Protection activities in their area by coordinating with non-partisan grassroots organizations, doing earned media outreach, performing legal research, meeting with election officials, recruiting volunteers, and more.
* Serving as a hotline call center volunteer on or before Election Day
* Participating in a legal field deployment on Election Day to ensure the process is running properly.
In 2008, Election Protection will run programs in up to 30 states across the country.
Our legal programs on the ground are led by Election Protection Legal Committees (EPLCSs), comprised of local law firms, members of state, local and minority bar associations, law students, community organizers, media professionals and other key players. All EPLCs are supported by organizational, advisory, and logistical assistance from the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law's National Campaign for Fair Elections. Please consider volunteering with an EPLC.
